I was drenched, walking through the #rainforest in #Nigeria, when I smelled something that would soon become very familiar to me—the scent of #bushmeat over a smoking fire. As I continued to walk, I saw dark red patches on the ground surrounded by bees. Soon, the bees surrounded me. Relentless, they entered my clothing from every angle. The stinging consumed my attention for only a moment as I noticed the pile of animal carcasses that lay above a smoldering fire.
